ጠፍቶባቸው ውሉ ::

ለደማቅዋ አበባ
ንብ ሁን አለኝ ልቤ
ቅስም ቅምስ ላደርግ
አይቀርቡን ቀርቤ ::

Ethiopia PM says his country would defend against Somali Islamists
10/10/2006 Home>>World News

Prime Minister Meles Zenawi said the country would "take whatever measures are necessary'' if an attack took place.
Prime Minister Meles Zenawi said Tuesday his country would defend itself against a Somali Islamic group's threat of holy war against Ethiopia.

Speaking to journalists at the National Palace in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, he said the country would "take whatever measures are necessary'' if an attack took place.

"But I hope it will not come to that,'' he said.

Tensions between Ethiopia, which supports Somalia's weak, U.N.-backed government, and the Islamic courts, which controls much of the war-ravaged country, have been mounting in recent months.

So far both sides have avoided any direct military confrontation.

On Monday, a top Islamic leader called for a holy war against Ethiopia, accusing its neighbour of deploying troops in Somalia to help the weak government to capture a strategic hill top town.

"Ethiopian troops have intentionally invaded our land,'' said Sheik Sharif Sheik Ahmed. "We will counter them soon.''

The Islamic courts have declared holy war against Ethiopia on a number of occasions in recent months.

WHAT IF YOU KNEW MY MIND!

WHAT IF YOU KNEW MY MIND!
By OMWABO Sat Aug 26, 2006 7:15 am

Probably you could call me a dog
Or a devil even if you don't know what a devil looks like
Why
I am a good player! How
I tell you to hold on a minute in the middle of our talk
Or i will call you right back
And i start talking to another woman
Just like yourself
Do you agree with me
I don't care if you said yes or no
I will still hit the nail on its head.
I luv you honey,
'You sound drunk or some like that'!
Yeah,
I am with my dear bottle
Can i go to bed and talk to you later; woman!
Another woman on the line or i call another one.
I tried to be trust-worth, faithful and even honest
It never paid off
But this way
Tends to workout things and they like me now!

allAfrica.com: Ethiopia: Meles Guarantees - No Chance of Hyperinflation (Page 1 of 2)

"Prime Minister Meles Zenawi has boldly said that although the rate of inflation in Ethiopia today is in double digits (nearly 14pc) and more than what his government had accounted for in its five-year plan (seven per cent), there is no chance that it will reach hyperinflation. Hyperinflation is a state of price increase that doubles on a monthly basis."

World trade in leather and leather products -- worth more than $60 billion in 2004 -- is expected to grow. With a quarter of the world’s sheep and goats and 15% of its cattle, Africa is bursting with potential, but there is a gap between resources and production. African countries produce just 14.9% of the global output of hides and skins and hardly any ready-for-market finished leather goods. When a country such as Ethiopia makes high-end leather products, it shows that promise can become a reality. Ethiopia has tremendous potential to develop leather exports, which the Government has singled out as a priority sector."
